Favorite tools

I've been designing since . I've tested different tools. The ones that I have kept using have been very useful. Here are what I currently use to run my Product Design Career.

🔑 1Password: manage passwords

I often open accounts and for security purposes, I used to create new passwords and every once in a while, I kept resetting them because I can't remember anything.

Why is that so? "Password forgetting aligns well with one of the psychological theories of memory and predicting forgetting of passwords." ~ Rutgers University-New Brunswick-led study.

The Perception and Knowledge of IT Threats: The Consumer’s Point of View study found that 7% of people use special tools, like 1Password, to remember their passwords. I'm part of that group and have not changed for 3 years now thanks to 1Password.

🕰 Clocker: timezone conscious

clocker for macOS

When I joined Lookback, the reality of working with team members in different timezones kicked in real hard. Especially setting up 1:1s to get to know them better was tough having to google EAT in PST timezone.

How lucky did I get when Tabanitha as my first 1:1 recommended Clocker to me, and I have been using it ever since. Quickly check up on your colleagues/friends in different time zones in your status bar.

📰 Dense Discovery: design publication

After successfully referring people to the MBA program, the CEO of dMBA sent me a token of appreciation, 5-10 editions of the Offscreen Magazine. The magazine has been life changing for me as a designer (thanks, Alen!), so I started searching for Kai Brach, publisher of the print magazine, and found that he also has a weekly newsletter, Dense Discovery.

It's a newsletter with insights on the intersection of tech, design and culture with carefully hand-picked selection of apps, accessories, and thought-provoking stuff to read, watch, and listen. I know you’ll enjoy reading his newsletter as well.

🧠 Gifox: bug reporting

When you test out the product you've designed especially when it's in production, you'll always find bugs 🐛 here and there and you would have to report it to the amazing devs.

The best practice is always to try reproduce it then share what steps you took to find the bug. Well screenshots are good but, have you tried sharing GIFs of the steps and capture the bug in action? Well devs love me because I always share more than just a screenshot, a GIF clip of the bug a user is experiencing, thanks to Gifox!

📝 Reverse Text Generator: backwards version

I was planning a trip and wanted to get info of the gateaway and got content in PDFs from their website. The plan was to copy the text from the PDF and paste it into my notes tool (Notes).

The results weren't pretty, all I could see was unreadable gibberish text. Took a keen look, I noticed the text was in a reverse order. Now what? I googled reverse letters online and voilà! Text Fixer had what I was looking for!
